In the latest V-series bios DMI_PRODUCT_VERSION does not contain the string Lenovo or Thinkpad, but is set to the model number, this causes the thinkpad_acpi module to fail to load. commit 721e3eba upstream. Commit c278531d added a warning when ext4_flush_unwritten_io() is called without i_mutex being taken. It had previously not been taken during orphan cleanup since races weren't possible at that point in the mount process, but as a result of this c278531d, we will now see a kernel WARN_ON in this case. Take the i_mutex in ext4_orphan_cleanup() to suppress this warning. This avoids any other hardirq handler seeing a very stale jiffies value immediately after wakeup from a long idle period. The one observable symptom of this was a USB keyboard, with software keyboard repeat, which would always repeat a key immediately that it was pressed. This is due to the key press waking the guest, the key handler immediately runs, sees an old jiffies value, and then that jiffies value significantly updated, before the key is unpressed. commit 73aaa22d upstream. This patch fixes races uncovered by xfstests testcase 068. One race is the result of jfs_sync() trying to write a sync point to the journal after it has been frozen (or possibly in the process). Since freezing sync's the journal, there is no need to write a sync point so we simply want to return. The second involves jfs_write_inode() being called on a deleted inode. It calls jfs_flush_journal which is held up by the jfs_commit thread doing the final iput on the same deleted inode, which itself is waiting for the I_SYNC flag to be cleared. jfs_write_inode need not do anything when i_nlink is zero, which is the easy fix. commit 3a3bfb61 upstream. __ratelimit() can be considered an inverted bool test because it returns true when not ratelimited. Several tests in the kernel tree use this __ratelimit() function incorrectly. No net_ratelimit uses are incorrect currently though. Most uses of net_ratelimit are to log something via printk or pr_<level>. In order to minimize the uses of net_ratelimit, and to start standardizing the code style used for __ratelimit() and net_ratelimit(), add a net_ratelimited_function() macro and net_<level>_ratelimited() logging macros similar to pr_<level>_ratelimited that use the global net_ratelimit instead of a static per call site "struct ratelimit_state". In this patch we have: MAX_SKB_SLOTS_DEFAULT -> FATAL_SKB_SLOTS_DEFAULT max_skb_slots -> fatal_skb_slots #define XEN_NETBK_LEGACY_SLOTS_MAX XEN_NETIF_NR_SLOTS_MIN The fatal_skb_slots is the threshold to determine whether a packet is malicious. XEN_NETBK_LEGACY_SLOTS_MAX is the maximum slots a valid packet can have at this point. It is defined to be XEN_NETIF_NR_SLOTS_MIN because that's guaranteed to be supported by all backends. commit 03393fd5 upstream. Some frontend drivers are sending packets > 64 KiB in length. This length overflows the length field in the first slot making the following slots have an invalid length. Turn this error back into a non-fatal error by dropping the packet. To avoid having the following slots having fatal errors, consume all slots in the packet. This does not reopen the security hole in XSA-39 as if the packet as an invalid number of slots it will still hit fatal error case. commit 2810e5b9 upstream. This patch tries to coalesce tx requests when constructing grant copy structures. It enables netback to deal with situation when frontend's MAX_SKB_FRAGS is larger than backend's MAX_SKB_FRAGS. With the help of coalescing, this patch tries to address two regressions avoid reopening the security hole in XSA-39. Regression 1. The reduction of the number of supported ring entries (slots) per packet (from 18 to 17). This regression has been around for some time but remains unnoticed until XSA-39 security fix. This is fixed by coalescing slots. Regression 2. The XSA-39 security fix turning "too many frags" errors from just dropping the packet to a fatal error and disabling the VIF. This is fixed by coalescing slots (handling 18 slots when backend's MAX_SKB_FRAGS is 17) which rules out false positive (using 18 slots is legit) and dropping packets using 19 to `max_skb_slots` slots. To avoid reopening security hole in XSA-39, frontend sending packet using more than max_skb_slots is considered malicious. The behavior of netback for packet is thus: 1-18 slots: valid 19-max_skb_slots slots: drop and respond with an error max_skb_slots+ slots: fatal error max_skb_slots is configurable by admin, default value is 20. Also change variable name from "frags" to "slots" in netbk_count_requests. Please note that RX path still has dependency on MAX_SKB_FRAGS. This will be fixed with separate patch. A malicious USB device may feed in carefully crafted min/max/res values, so that the inner loop in parse_uac2_sample_rate_range() could run for a long time or even never terminate, e.g., given max = INT_MAX. Also nr_rates could be a large integer, which causes an integer overflow in the subsequent call to kmalloc() in parse_audio_format_rates_v2(). Thus, kmalloc() would allocate a smaller buffer than expected, leading to a memory corruption. To exploit the two vulnerabilities, an attacker needs physical access to the machine to plug in a malicious USB device. This patch makes two changes. 1) The type of "rate" is changed to unsigned int, so that the loop could stop once "rate" is larger than INT_MAX. 2) Limit nr_rates to 1024. Check for invalid values and set a register bit to flush the TX channels. The bit needs to be turned off after the DMA channels have been flushed. If a key was larger than 64 bytes, as checked by iscsi_check_key(), the error response packet, generated by iscsi_add_notunderstood_response(), would still attempt to copy the entire key into the packet, overflowing the structure on the heap. commit c8aa22db upstream. Since Eric's commit efe117ab ("Speedup ieee80211_remove_interfaces") there's a bug in mac80211 when it unregisters with AP_VLAN interfaces up. If the AP_VLAN interface was registered after the AP it belongs to (which is the typical case) and then we get into this code path, unregister_netdevice_many() will crash because it isn't prepared to deal with interfaces being closed in the middle of it. Exactly this happens though, because we iterate the list, find the AP master this AP_VLAN belongs to and dev_close() the dependent VLANs. After this, unregister_netdevice_many() won't pick up the fact that the AP_VLAN is already down and will do it again, causing a crash. This makes SATA-host-to-PATA-device bridges based on Silicon Image SiL3611 (such as "Abit Serillel 2") end up disabled when used with an ATAPI device after a few tries. Commit 1619f441 'rapidio/tsi721: fix bug in MSI interrupt handling' (commit 1ccc819d upstream) makes the MSI handler disable and re-enable interrupts. When re-enabling interrupts, we should set the same flags as were originally set, but this changed in Linux 3.5 so the flags are now inconsistent in 3.2. In fact, the extra flag isn't even defined in 3.2. Remove the extra flag from the MSI handler. commit 7d3135af upstream. When a low-level comedi driver auto-configures a device, a `struct comedi_dev_file_info` is allocated (as well as a `struct comedi_device`) by `comedi_alloc_board_minor()`. A pointer to the hardware `struct device` is stored as a cookie in the `struct comedi_dev_file_info`. When the low-level comedi driver auto-unconfigures the device, `comedi_auto_unconfig()` uses the cookie to find the `struct comedi_dev_file_info` so it can detach the comedi device from the driver, clean it up and free it. A problem arises if the user manually unconfigures and reconfigures the comedi device using the `COMEDI_DEVCONFIG` ioctl so that is no longer associated with the original hardware device. The problem is that the cookie is not cleared, so that a call to `comedi_auto_unconfig()` from the low-level driver will still find it, detach it, clean it up and free it. Stop this problem occurring by always clearing the `hardware_device` cookie in the `struct comedi_dev_file_info` whenever the `COMEDI_DEVCONFIG` ioctl call is successful. [ Upstream commit f77d6021 ] We have seen multiple NULL dereferences in __inet6_lookup_established() After analysis, I found that inet6_sk() could be NULL while the check for sk_family == AF_INET6 was true. Bug was added in linux-2.6.29 when RCU lookups were introduced in UDP and TCP stacks. Once an IPv6 socket, using SLAB_DESTROY_BY_RCU is inserted in a hash table, we no longer can clear pinet6 field. This patch extends logic used in commit fcbdf09d ("net: fix nulls list corruptions in sk_prot_alloc") TCP/UDP/UDPLite IPv6 protocols provide their own .clear_sk() method to make sure we do not clear pinet6 field. Reason of the panic is that list_first_entry() is blindly called in macvlan_handle_frame() even if the list was empty. vlan is set to incorrect pointer which leads to the crash. I'm fixing this by protecting port->vlans list by rcu and by preventing from getting incorrect pointer in case the list is empty.
