This patch adds EFI runtime support for arm64. This runtime support allows the kernel to access various EFI runtime services provided by EFI firmware. Things like reboot, real time clock, EFI boot variables, and others. This functionality is supported for little endian kernels only. The UEFI firmware standard specifies that the firmware be little endian. A future patch is expected to add support for big endian kernels running with little endian firmware. Both ARM and ARM64 stubs will update the device tree that they pass to the kernel. In both cases they primarily need to add the same UEFI related information, so the function can be shared. Create a new FDT related file for this to avoid use of architecture #ifdefs in efi-stub-helper.c. At boot time, before switching to a virtual UEFI memory map, firmware expects UEFI memory and IO regions to be identity mapped whenever kernel makes runtime services calls. The existing early boot code creates an identity map of kernel text/data but this is not sufficient for UEFI. This patch adds a create_id_mapping() function which reuses the core code of the existing create_mapping(). ARM and ARM64 architectures use the device tree to pass UEFI parameters from stub to kernel. These parameters are things known to the stub but not discoverable by the kernel after the stub calls ExitBootSerives(). There is a helper function in: drivers/firmware/efi/fdt.c which the stub uses to add the UEFI parameters to the device tree. This patch adds a complimentary helper function which UEFI runtime support may use to retrieve the parameters from the device tree. If an architecture wants to use this helper, it should select CONFIG_EFI_PARAMS_FROM_FDT. It seems people are using 32-bit efibootmgr on top of 64-bit kernels, which will currently fail horribly when using the efivars interface, which is the traditional efibootmgr backend (the other being efivarfs). Since there is no versioning info in the data structure, figure out when we need to munge the structure data via judicious use of is_compat_task(). For i386, all the EFI system runtime services functions return efi_status_t except efi_reset_system_system. Therefore, not all functions can be covered by the same macro in case the macro needs to do more than calling the function (i.e., return a value). The purpose of the __efi_call_virt macro is to be used when no return value is expected. For x86_64, this macro would not be needed as all the runtime services return u64. However, the same code is used for both x86_64 and i386. Thus, the macro __efi_call_virt is also defined to not break compilation. It may be necessary to save and restore the FPU context during EFI runtime system services calls. However, this may happen during boot and before alternatives have run. Thus, we need to use static_cpu_has_safe instead. The rationale behind the use of static_cpu_has_safe is the same as in commit 5f8c4218 ("x86, fpu: Use static_cpu_has_safe before alternatives") by Borislav Petkov. We really only need one phys and one virt function call, and then only one assembly function to make firmware calls. Since we are not using the C type system anyway, we're not really losing much by deleting the macros apart from no longer having a check that we are passing the correct number of parameters. The lack of duplicated code seems like a worthwhile trade-off. This patch fixes I/O errors with the sym53c8xx_2 driver when the disk returns QUEUE FULL status. When the controller encounters an error (including QUEUE FULL or BUSY status), it aborts all not yet submitted requests in the function sym_dequeue_from_squeue. This function aborts them with DID_SOFT_ERROR. If the disk has full tag queue, the request that caused the overflow is aborted with QUEUE FULL status (and the scsi midlayer properly retries it until it is accepted by the disk), but the sym53c8xx_2 driver aborts the following requests with DID_SOFT_ERROR --- for them, the midlayer does just a few retries and then signals the error up to sd. The result is that disk returning QUEUE FULL causes request failures. The error was reproduced on 53c895 with COMPAQ BD03685A24 disk (rebranded ST336607LC) with command queue 48 or 64 tags. The disk has 64 tags, but under some access patterns it return QUEUE FULL when there are less than 64 pending tags. The SCSI specification allows returning QUEUE FULL anytime and it is up to the host to retry. Commit 8f619b54 ("powerpc/ppc64: Do not turn AIL (reloc-on interrupts) too early") added code to set the AIL bit in the LPCR without checking whether the kernel is running in hypervisor mode. The result is that when the kernel is running as a guest (i.e., under PowerKVM or PowerVM), the processor takes a privileged instruction interrupt at that point, causing a panic. The visible result is that the kernel hangs after printing "returning from prom_init". This fixes it by checking for hypervisor mode being available before setting LPCR. If we are not in hypervisor mode, we enable relocation-on interrupts later in pSeries_setup_arch using the H_SET_MODE hcall. This is dangerous because the moment the skb is added to the receive queue it can be consumed in another context and freed up. There's a lot more of that, but it'll probably go into the next merge window - it *does* shape up nicely, removes a lot of boilerplate, gets rid of locking inconsistencie between aio_write and splice_write and I hope to get Kent's direct-io rewrite merged into the same queue, but some of the stuff after this point is having (mostly trivial) conflicts with the things already merged into mainline and with some I want more testing. This one passes LTP and xfstests without regressions, in addition to usual beating. Nicolas Dichtel says: ==================== tunnels: don't allow to add the same tunnel twice This series fixes the check of an existing tunnel with the same parameters when a new tunnel is added. I've checked all users of ip_tunnel_newlink(): gre, gretap, ipip and vti. The bug exists only for gre and vti. ==================== Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

Before the patch, it was possible to add two times the same tunnel: ip l a vti1 type vti remote 10.16.0.121 local 10.16.0.249 key 41 ip l a vti2 type vti remote 10.16.0.121 local 10.16.0.249 key 41 It was possible, because ip_tunnel_newlink() calls ip_tunnel_find() with the argument dev->type, which was set only later (when calling ndo_init handler in register_netdevice()). Let's set this type in the setup handler, which is called before newlink handler. Introduced by commit b9959fd3 ("vti: switch to new ip tunnel code").
