commit 6736fde9 upstream. The code within wait_event_interruptible() is called with !TASK_RUNNING, so mustn't call any functions that can sleep, like mutex_lock(). Since we re-check the list_empty() in a loop after the wait, it's safe to simply use list_empty() without locking. This bug has existed forever, but was only discovered now because all userspace implementations, including the default 'rfkill' tool, use poll() or select() to get a readable fd before attempting to read. commit 2989be09 upstream. KASan detected a use-after-free error in virtio-pci remove code. In virtio_pci_remove(), vp_dev is still used after being freed in unregister_virtio_device() (in virtio_pci_release_dev() more precisely). To fix, keep a reference until cleanup is done. commit 566d1827 upstream. Some early controllers incorrectly reported zero ports in PORTS_IMPL register and the ahci driver fabricates PORTS_IMPL from the number of ports in those cases. This hasn't mattered but with the new nvme controllers there are cases where zero PORTS_IMPL is valid and should be honored. Disable the workaround for >= AHCI 1.3. commit 4ae2182b upstream. A Root Port's AER structure (rpc) contains a queue of events. aer_irq() enqueues AER status information and schedules aer_isr() to dequeue and process it. When we remove a device, aer_remove() waits for the queue to be empty, then frees the rpc struct. But aer_isr() references the rpc struct after dequeueing and possibly emptying the queue, which can cause a use-after-free error as in the following scenario with two threads, aer_isr() on the left and a concurrent aer_remove() on the right: Thread A Thread B -------- -------- aer_irq(): rpc->prod_idx++ aer_remove(): wait_event(rpc->prod_idx == rpc->cons_idx) # now blocked until queue becomes empty aer_isr(): # ... rpc->cons_idx++ # unblocked because queue is now empty ... kfree(rpc) mutex_unlock(&rpc->rpc_mutex) To prevent this problem, use flush_work() to wait until the last scheduled instance of aer_isr() has completed before freeing the rpc struct in aer_remove(). I reproduced this use-after-free by flashing a device FPGA and re-enumerating the bus to find the new device. With SLUB debug, this crashes with 0x6b bytes (POISON_FREE, the use-after-free magic number) in GPR25: pcieport 0000:00:00.0: AER: Multiple Corrected error received: id=0000 Unable to handle kernel paging request for data at address 0x27ef9e3e Workqueue: events aer_isr GPR24: dd6aa000 6b6b6b6b 605f8378 605f8360 d99b12c0 604fc674 606b1704 d99b12c0 NIP [602f5328] pci_walk_bus+0xd4/0x104 [bhelgaas: changelog, stable tag] Signed-off-by: Sebastian Andrzej Siewior <bigeasy@linutronix.de> Signed-off-by: Bjorn Helgaas <bhelgaas@google.com> Signed-off-by: Ben Hutchings <ben@decadent.org.uk>

commit 27f7ed2b upstream. This patch extends commit b93d6471 ("sctp: implement the sender side for SACK-IMMEDIATELY extension") as it didn't white list SCTP_SACK_IMMEDIATELY on sctp_msghdr_parse(), causing it to be understood as an invalid flag and returning -EINVAL to the application. commit 9a368aff upstream. Several times already this has been reported as kasan reports caused by syzkaller and trinity and people always looked at RCU races, but it is much more simple. :) In case we bind a pptp socket multiple times, we simply add it to the callid_sock list but don't remove the old binding. Thus the old socket stays in the bucket with unused call_id indexes and doesn't get cleaned up. This causes various forms of kasan reports which were hard to pinpoint. Simply don't allow multiple binds and correct error handling in pptp_bind. Also keep sk_state bits in place in pptp_connect. commit b62526ed upstream. Helge reported that a relative timer can return a remaining time larger than the programmed relative time on parisc and other architectures which have CONFIG_TIME_LOW_RES set. This happens because we add a jiffie to the resulting expiry time to prevent short timeouts. Use the new function hrtimer_expires_remaining_adjusted() to calculate the remaining time. It takes that extra added time into account for relative timers. commit 203cbf77 upstream. If CONFIG_TIME_LOW_RES is enabled we add a jiffie to the relative timeout to prevent short sleeps, but we do not account for that in interfaces which retrieve the remaining time. Helge observed that timerfd can return a remaining time larger than the relative timeout. That's not expected and breaks userland test programs. Store the information that the timer was armed relative and provide functions to adjust the remaining time. To avoid bloating the hrtimer struct make state a u8, which as a bonus results in better code on x86 at least. commit 090c65b6 upstream. 1. usbvision->alt_max_pkt_size is not deallocated anywhere. 2. if allocation of usbvision->alt_max_pkt_size fails, there is no proper deallocation of already acquired resources. The patch adds kfree(usbvision->alt_max_pkt_size) to usbvision_release() as soon as other deallocations happen there. It calls usbvision_release() if allocation of usbvision->alt_max_pkt_size fails as soon as usbvision_release() is safe to work with incompletely initialized usbvision structure. commit 635682a1 upstream. A case can occur when sctp_accept() is called by the user during a heartbeat timeout event after the 4-way handshake. Since sctp_assoc_migrate() changes both assoc->base.sk and assoc->ep, the bh_sock_lock in sctp_generate_heartbeat_event() will be taken with the listening socket but released with the new association socket. The result is a deadlock on any future attempts to take the listening socket lock. Note that this race can occur with other SCTP timeouts that take the bh_lock_sock() in the event sctp_accept() is called. BUG: soft lockup - CPU#9 stuck for 67s! [swapper:0] ... commit 6de62f15 upstream. Hash implementations that require a key may crash if you use them without setting a key. This patch adds the necessary checks so that if you do attempt to use them without a key that we return -ENOKEY instead of proceeding. This patch also adds a compatibility path to support old applications that do acept(2) before setkey. Signed-off-by: Herbert Xu <herbert@gondor.apana.org.au> [bwh: Backported to 3.2: - Add struct kiocb * parameter to {recv, send}msg ops - Adjust context] Signed-off-by: Ben Hutchings <ben@decadent.org.uk>
